This post if to recap the current situation as well as to address the future of the game(s). Worry not, we're staying!

Good news and (kind of) bad news!


As some, if not most, of you know, the game is created in Gamemaker. It is my biggest project yet using this engine and I'm now starting to see and understand it's limitations. Mostly, texture pages. For those who don't know, texture pages are loaded in memory and they are where the sprite are drawn from on screen. They are like a big sticker folder, with multiple stickers on every page. Each frame, the computer takes all the stickers it needs and puts them on the screen. The thing is, with MMD, the stickers are quite big and numerous, so the computer takes a lot of time just flipping pages to find the right sticker to put on screen. This brings memory issues as well as performance issues. Truth is, I can't really cram that much more in the game before it reaches an unstable point. 


Plus, as you all know, I'm a part time dev. I do this on evenings and weekends between walking with my dog and chopping some firewood. So there is not a lot of time to reallocate all the textures to the correct pages (that would help but not solve the issue, which I think is more engine related than anything else). Also, SPOILER, but Tz, our beloved artist, is actually working full time on the game full time since January because of your awesome support! We barely meet it but with the new patrons that each month brings, and because the patreon is set to pay upfront, I can achieve to pay him full time.


Because of all of this, the future brings numerous changes. First of all, Monster Musume Dungeons will receive its last content update this month and probably a last polish update in April if I can't finish everything I want in March. BUT! we are far from done in this universe, and the actual game too (but wtf are you saying Wataponno you just said you will terminate the game). As said previously, the problem with the sprites is an engine problem. So I'll be learning Unity, which can handle bigger texture and sprites more easily, in the next months. 


MMD will then be reborn from its ashes in MWA: Magical Waifus Academy!


Building on previous concepts from MMD, it will expand the universe, story, combat mechanics, classmate interactions, everything! Truly it will be a hentai game of legend. To do that though I will need a firm grip on Unity as well as being able to do it full (or almost full) time. I'm lucky because my field allows me to take part time contracts easily. Still, it will only be possible with a patreon total of around3k$. Seems much, but may I remember you that we were at 800% in November, and 90$ a year ago.


To get the basics of Unity, as well as to continue development, we will start working on Hellhound Heat, a roguelike platformer (I know! it's because it's easy to make, to learn the engine!). Still illustrated by Tz, the current artist for MMD, the casual enemies sprites will be smaller in scale but it will also free time to make some more elaborate sprites, animations, and animated CGS (hurray!!) for the most important enemies and bosses. If you liked MMD, you will love HH for its fast action, hordes of different enemies and one handed play and fully lewd high quality scenes. A new type of game will also provide the opportunity to bring in patrons that are more attracted to it, and the plans are to publish it on Nutaku, Steam and/or the likes to provide additional visibility and thus revenue and thus more lewd games and thus more visibility etc etc etc.

Tl;dr: Engine problems forces the premature end of MMD but it will be reworked in Unity. In the meantime, Hellhound Hell will be a new lewd platformer. Last MMD update will come this month.

Hello one and all! 

Last week saw a lot of QoL improvements on the game. We're talking better sounds, skipping Fae's long dialogues (especially the first one), removing some duplicate arrows, etc.


This week will see some other QoL and others: a new mob for Fae's dungeon, and the fullscreen mode! Plus the inclusion of some mysterious (even to me) assets!

Early weekly update this week (for a change lol).


The patreon EXPLODED this week! Wow! Really didn't expect that.


So, instead of working with the (good but generic) assets we had bought for the sound design of the H scenes, we decided to go straight to a voice actress to make custom voices for all the H scenes currently in place.


Also, at this rate, we'll probably be able to voice Fae (or give the contract) by the end of the month or next month of we reach our goal!
